The first meeting of the National Biological Diversity
Coordination Board, whose secretarial services were carried out by our General
Directorate, was held on 26 February 2020 in Ankara under the presidency of
Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
During the meeting which attended
by our General Manager İsmail Üzmez as well as the representatives of other
institutions that form the board, the draft regulations regarding the working
procedures and principles of the board were discussed and sub-board
presidencies were determined.
"16th Conference of the Parties of United
Nations Convention on Biological Diversity " will be held in our country
in the last quarter of 2022 and the term of the contract will be held by our
country between 2022 and 2024.
Ministry of Agriculture
and Forestry, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks is
the focal point of UN Biodiversity Convention and national coordination
services are carried out by so called General Directorate.
With the Presidency Circular, published in 2019, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry under the presidency of Dr. Bekir Pakdemirli, the National Biological Diversity Coordination Board was established in order to follow the developments in the global biodiversity agenda, to bring biodiversity into the economy in a sustainable way, to conduct the Convention and the rotating term effectively.
The operation of such a wide
participation board is a very important milestone in terms of our biological
diversity and also reveals the great importance it gives to the biological
diversity of our country.
